"Fear" Butterfly Project

"Fear"

Today the ghetto knows a different fear,
Close in its grip, Death wields an icy scythe.
An evil sickness spreads a terror in its wake,
The victims of its shadow weep and writhe.

Today a father's heartbeat tells his fright
And mothers bend their heads into their hands.
Now children choke and die with typhus here,
A bitter tax is taken from their bands.

My heart still beats inside my breast While friends depart for other worlds. Perhaps it's better – who can say? – Than watching this, to die today?
No, no, my God, we want to live!
Not watch our numbers melt away. We want to have a better world,
We want to work – we must not die!

  1. You did a really good job on your butterfly! You did good on most of your tags by giving a quote, but you didn't have a quote for every tag which you should've had. All of your tags are different which is a good thing, such as having a photo, figurative language, mood, etc. You did an excellent job on telling why you chose to add something onto your butterfly and why its important. The only mistake you had was not having a quote for every tag, but other than that, it looks good!

  2. Hey Nathaly, great job on your butterfly I really liked how you explained everything with detail and had a quotes to back it up. All of your tags made sense to me and were easy to understand. Also the way you decorated your butterfly is amazing especially the black around your butterfly makes your butterfly really stand out. The only thing was that you could've added more quotes, but overall it looks nice !!!

  3. I just want to congratulate you and tell you how amazing your butterfly is. All the pictures and symbols that were drawn had a very unique and deep meaning, which I really liked. You used great words when it came to describing your poem and butterfly. I could tell that you reallly took your time to put your butterfly together because of the organization. One thing that you could of put more of were quotes, but honestly your butterfly looks great either way.

  4. This butterfly is very well done. The thing that I liked the most was your incorporation of the numbers throughout the design, it makes sense with the poem and it was a creative idea to the show the hope of the Jews as they tried to make it through their struggles. Another thing that stood out to me about your butterfly was the blackness around the edges. This gives the butterfly the effect of darkness and death, the topics and moods discussed in the poem. One more thing that I liked was the hands reaching out to each other in the corner. This shows that even though the Jews didn’t have much hope, there was still some there that they had been reaching for. The hands are well drawn and it is clear what they are representative of; well done. Overall, you clearly showed what was talked about in the poem.

  5. Nathaly you did a great job. It is organized and well laid out. One feature I liked was that you included a picture of Terezin. That helps the reader understand your poem better. Also the map of Terezin help too! One suggestion I would like to make is that please go over and cite your quotes. It's only on a view of the tags. Also want to point how you did a good job of explaining how a certain part of the poem stood out to you. Overall, awesome presentation!

  6. Amazing butterfly Nathaly. One thing I thought was a interesting idea is the part with the numbers. How it started with 33,000 and ended of with one. That was very creative. I also like how you eased that bit of yellow in the corner to symbolize the Jews still had a chance. One thing I did not get though is the quote in the back. I know it's from our poem but I am interested in why you chose it. Once again, great butterfly.
